Medicine & Physiotherapy - GHANA
Daily Life
|
Life as a medical volunteer in Ghana will often be exciting, and sometimes very busy and tiring. You will start your day around 08:00, in time to shadow a doctor on their rounds, and will work until about 14:00. The experiences you might have in a hospital on a typical day can be quite varied: you might observe a delivery, or watch a doctor perform surgery or help the nurses in their daily chores. Night shifts in A & E have been known to be extremely interesting, as well as very instructive.
Outside the hospital, you could find yourself giving a speech on hygiene to children fro the local community, treating their cuts and scrapes, helping your host family with their daily chores, or going out with the other volunteers to watch a dancing and drumming show or to a PA-organised quiz or games night. There is always plenty to do and see in Ghana
